After 24 years of parenting, we have seen a lot of "seasons" and "phases" ... but, now ... it is time to discover a whole new side of parenting ... becoming ... "In-Laws" ...
You may remember my Modern Fairy Tale post last summer, and my introduction of Miss Heidi ...
You may have noticed that Miss Heidi's picture appeared on our blog header a week or so ago ...
You may remember that I drove to Oregon to move Miss Heidi to Washington 12 days ago ...
Yesterday, Miss Heidi's sweet parents flew up from California to visit Heidi's new town, and to meet the future ... In-Laws ...
Today ... we toured a mansion ... visited a park on the waterfront with a rental facility ... shopped for a wedding dress ... and went out to lunch with Gregg, Heidi, and the ... In-Laws ... What fun!!!
Heidi has assured me that she wants and needs my help with the wedding.
I have assured Heidi that I definitely don't want to become the Dreaded, Domineering, Mother-In-Law.
Yes ... we are THRILLED to be entering this new phase of parenting. Fun! Fun! Fun!
so...umm....I haven't seen pictures of the ring yet....I assume those will be forthcoming??? GREGG!!! BRO!!! Get with the program!!! ;)
ReplyDeleteThat is so exciting!!! My Mother in Law is a wonderful lady and God truly blessed me with her...You will be a wonderful Mother in Law!
ReplyDeleteJeremiah's comment made me laugh :)
ReplyDeleteYou will make a wonderful Mother-in-Law, Laurel. Heidi (as well as 12 other future people) will be blessed!
Earlier this year, I started praying specifically for a great mother-in-law. It's something I've always wanted, but never thought to really pray for it.
As I've watched my friends in their first few years of marriage and parenting, I've seen how often they call their moms with questions, and it makes me miss my mom more. I want a "mom" I can call on and to have that special "mother-daughter" relationship with.
It's not a requirement, but it's something I'm praying for and really hoping God blesses me with.
Congratulations Laurel! I heard quite a bit about Heidi from Cassie, and I'm very happy for Gregg and all of your family. God is so good.
ReplyDeleteAnd the previous comment, by your friend Vicky, actually made me cry. I've never heard of someone praying that God would give them a beautiful future mother-in-law relationship. I've prayed for that with my future someday children-in-laws, but it touched a little spot in my heart to think that some godly young people are praying on their end too!
Congratulations! How exciting!
