How NOT To Sell A House
If you want to sell your house ...
Do NOT go on a month long Road Trip, in order to keep the house clean. No one will look at it while you are gone. However, right when you get back, and your house is in an uproar from returning from a month long trip ... then your first potential buyers will want to come.
Do NOT move out of your house for 6 months, in order to keep the house clean. No one will look at it while you are gone. However, as soon as you move back in, and there are boxes everywhere, then a realtor will phone and want to show it to potential buyers #2.
Yes ... tomorrow afternoon our house will be showing for the 2nd time in the 7 months that it has been on the market, and we (as a family ... with the children) have only been home for 2.5 weeks of that 7 months. I REALLY don't understand the timing of all of this. I think that God has a sense of humor, and He wants to make sure that we are still laughing.
PRAYING that these people will want to buy the house; yet, CONCERNED that it will sell and we won't be able to buy a house on the island. Definitely mixed emotions here tonight. TRUSTING that God has all of the details worked out, and that HE knows where we will live when the house sells. (Homeless in "Clifford the Big Red Van" does not sound like fun.)
Well ... gotta go clean bathrooms ... empty boxes ... hide boxes that I don't have time to empty and organize ...
Just got word ... Hannah is coming over to help Mama D. ... gotta LOVE those Adopted Big Kids ...

Good Luck!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you found my blog!!! LOVE that you are a mom of so many!!! The more the merrier:)
ReplyDeleteAnd very awesome you homeschool your kiddos. I was actually homeschooled all the way through and loved it!
Good luck Mrs. D!
ReplyDeleteGood golly, I can't keep up w/ you girl! I start prayin' for your journey & circumstance back at the old place, then pray for your friends, then pray for your big kids (LOVE IT), I blink my eyes, then you have potential buyers! So I continue to pray for peace, clarity, and direction for you & your family...and yes, indeed, God has a sense of humor, I just tend to miss the punch line =)
ReplyDeletebtw...where in the world are you? I would love to meet halfway for a day...summer maybe??

The longer I know HIM the more I realize HE loves suspense so much more than I do!! :) Be blessed & sell that house!! I pray they see your house for what it is and what it will be and not look for perfection!!! DEEP BREATH!!!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the showing! Wish I lived closer so I could come help you clean!
ReplyDeleteWhen mine were little I always felt like "Cleaning a house while kids are still in it, is like shoveling the driveway while it's still snowing." Especially when homeschooling & everyone is home all day doing STUFF.
ReplyDeleteWhether these people are THE ONES or not (and I hope they are so you can all move together to what's next), I hope you can rest in the fact that God is in total and complete control, and that other families know how families live, and will be imagining their own family there -- and not looking for it to be perfectly clean with no stuff around.
Hugs,
Becki
Sense of humor indeed! Good luck with the potential buyers!
ReplyDeleteAshley ... thanks for stopping by. How cool that you were homeschooled all the way through.
ReplyDeleteSheri ... Keep track of me? I can't keep track of myself. So glad that the Lord knows where I am and where I'm headed.
Pam ... no perfection here. Yes ... deep breathe today, and do all that I can do.
Becki ...thanks for the encouragement. Yes, the homeschooling part of the equation just plain adds a LOT of STUFF to a household.
Heather ... love that sense of humor, as long as it doesn't include the punch line of "oops ... sorry ... we couldn't make it today ..." That is the most difficult part of getting ready to show the house, wondering if they family will even show up. Had that happen multiple times over the years.
Ladies ... Thanks for your support and prayers. The house will look as good as we can get it in the next few hours. If they can't stand the sight of a few boxes ... oh well ...
:) :) :)
I just came over from the blog, Our Journey of Faith. All those pictures of all your beautiful children warms right to my heart. Absolutely awesome!
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine selling a house with or without kids. Thankfully, the one house we have sold,...bought by the first person who looked at it. Thank you, Jesus!
ReplyDeleteI do feel bad for you. I just can't imagine. I would move, too. haha
Ha! That's so God isn't?! LOL!
ReplyDeletePraying for an offer this weekend!
Love,
Kim
