As I was reading the Book of Colossians last night, I read a short passage ... and the Lord stopped me. I went back and read it again. Then, the Lord showed me that I needed to pray this prayer for myself.
Paul wrote this as a Prayer for the Colossians' Growth ... yet, if we insert our own name, if we ask these things of the Lord for ourselves, than we too can be blessed by this prayer of Paul's.
"For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you and asking God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding. And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and joyfully giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in the kingdom of light." Colossians 1:9-12
Here is my prayer ... taken from this passage in Colossians ...
Dear Lord,
I ask you, tonight, to fill me with the knowledge of Your will,
through all spiritual wisdom and understanding.
I pray this in order that I might live a life worthy of You,
and that I may please You in every way.
Help me, Lord, to bear fruit in every good work.
Help me to grow in my knowledge of You.
Strengthen me, Lord, with all power,
according to Your glorious might,
so that I may have endurance and patience.
I joyfully thank you and praise you, Father,
that you have qualified me to share
in the inheritance of the saints
in the kingdom of light.
Amen.
I hope that you will pray this prayer for yourselves, as well. While Paul may have prayed this prayer for the people of Colosse, the Lord included it in His Holy Word, in order that we all might be lifted up and encouraged to pray it for ourselves, and for those that we know and love.
