January 25, 1989
Mama was ready to go to the hospital.
Yes.
Those are bright red maternity stretch pants.
This outfit was put on purely for the sake of
getting a better picture. Mama did NOT
leave her house looking like this. (smile)
In just 9 months ...
Mama went from a 24" waist to a 48" waist.
While the doctors had been very concerned about a
premature birth, coming so soon after 3 other births,
"the twins" had no intention of joining the world
any earlier than they had to.
At 40 weeks, Mama finally made an appointment
to be induced (the 2nd of 5 inductions).
Papa & Mama wanted to be surprised,
so they hadn't allowed the doctors to tell them
whether Baby A and Baby B were boys or girls.
So, they had 3 sets of names picked out ...
2 girls
2 boys
1 girl & 1 boy
After a very short labor, and no pushing, Baby A
popped right out. Carissa weighed in at 7 lb. 2 oz.
Then, after unsuccessfully trying to turn Baby B around,
the doctors pulled her out by her feet.
Lindsey weighed in at 8 lb. 3 oz.
Notice the pretty nightgown?
Mama still has it. And, it's still pretty.
But, Papa bought Mama 2 sets of pjs for Christmas and said,
"It is time to throw away the old ones."
So sad.
Yes.
Mama was carrying 15 lb. 5 oz. of baby.
While we were excited to welcome the girls to our
family, we were a bit apprehensive of how, exactly,
we were going to survive ...
Daily Life with 5 kids under 5 years old.
(Gregg was 4, Cassie was 3, and Jeremiah turned 2
just 5 days before the girls were born.)
But ...
the Lord had a plan.
We not only survived,
but we truly LOVED
the years where our house
was FULL of the Little Ones.
Those were the days ...
Happy 23rd Birthday
Carissa & Lindsey!

LOVE the pictures!!! You are so adorable!!! :)
ReplyDeleteYou are an amazing woman! Your heart is such a blessing and I know your home will always be full of love and laughter.
ReplyDeletethat is alot of baby you were carrying around!!! didn't think it was even possible to stand with that amount of extra weight in the belly!! :)amazing!
ReplyDeleteWow!!!! That's a lot of baby. I love seeing the pictures. Lovely!!! Happy birthday!
ReplyDeleteCharissa ... not only could I "stand" with all of that baby weight, but we actually went walking at the mall, often, trying to go into labor. And, when my almost 2 year old would get tired of walking, I would carry him (which basically meant that he "sat on my shelf"). Still no labor. Those girls were determined to stay in as long as the doctors would let them.
ReplyDeleteLaurel :)
Wow, I had ONE that size! I cannot imagine! They are both such beautiful young ladies! Actually all the girls are! Can't believe how fast they all grew up!
ReplyDeleteSweet pictures - love it! Happy birthday to your lovely girls. :)
ReplyDeleteFLASHBACK!!!!!!! :) LOVE IT!!!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Carissa & Lindsey!!!
1st of all, you look AMAZING for having just pushed out 2 babies. Seriously!
ReplyDelete2nd, look at their hair! I love it! I've always had the baldest babies ever. In fact, I thought Elizabeth & Ashlee would never grow hair. Now they both sport long, beautiful locks.
Love the flashback. Thanks for the reminder that the Lord has great plans for our family, even with 7 kids ages 7 and under. Whew! It's exhausting but it's awesome.
Love you friend!
sweet!
ReplyDeleteThat is quite a belly.
Thanks for the encouraging comments on the blog. Sorry the tricks that work for us don't work for you. I am sure you have tried everything under the sun and I hate to even suggest anything, but have you ever heard nancy Thomas? i DON'T ascribe to everything, but there are a few things on the video that have help us tremendously... helped me with my patience to sit there and say... take your time, sweety, you'll do it eventually, if not today, maybe tomorrow and then I wait until it happens. HARD stuff. I know and I am sure it is really tough for you.
LOVE it!!!
