Let God Take The Lead

A fairly new Blog Reader wrote her first comment on Friday, and I'm so glad that she did.  Here is what she said ...

"I must confess I was a bit saddend/confussed when I read your post about the letter withdrawing your name for the at home job. In fact I was wondering how you could ask for all the prayers and then turned down what seemed to be just want you needed. But, as I read what has happend in your family since your decision I have been reminded how we need to let God take the lead."

I KNEW when writing the post, "A Tough Note To Write", that some of you wouldn't understand.  In fact, I don't really understand WHY God has walked me through this process, either.

In many of our discussions, Jim and I have said, "Since we have prayed and prayed for a job ... how can we turn down a job when one drops in our laps?"

However ... a couple of things come into the equation ...

We have specifically prayed for a job for Jim for months and months and months, knowing that it is HE that we believe needs to find a full-time job.  I don't believe we ever asked for prayer that the Lord would bring a job for Me.

In January we began to wonder if I should begin to look for work (when some of you blog readers began to question why I was asking for prayer for a job for Jim, but not out looking for a job for myself).  Wanting to make sure we were pursuing anything the Lord might desire for us, I began looking for work.  We certainly want to be open and available for anything that the Lord has for us.

When I did ask for prayer, I believe I asked more for prayer for God's will, than specific prayers of "let me get the job".  (I haven't looked back at each prayer request post, so I may be wrong here.)  All along, we have prayed "Show us Lord, if this is your will."  "Help me to get the job, Lord, if this is your will."  I hope that that has been your prayer for us, as well.

As you have seen, we have prayed and prayed and prayed through each and every possibility.  But, the Lord has continued to make it very clear that I am to be at HOME.

We have sought HIS counsel.
(and the counsel of wise and godly friends)

We have listened for HIS voice.
(and prayed for a neon light)

We must be obedient to HIS call.
(even if we don't understand it all)

Yes.  As this blog reader said, we must "let God take the lead".  He has the map all laid out for this journey of ours, and we must take one step at a time in obedience to Him ... even when we don't understand ... even if we look foolish ... and, even if we ask for prayers for a job, and then turn the job offers down.
