I really do appreciate all of the Tips, Tricks, Thoughts, and Encouragement
that I have received from you as I walk this new Weight Loss Journey.
However . . .
I must tell you . . .
that this advice just doesn't work for me:
"Only eat when you are hungry."
It sounds good.
I know it works for some people.
I was even the focus of a News Show on a big Seattle T.V. Station
years ago, as I was leading a Weight Loss group that
used this as the premise of their program.
But . . .
for some people it just. plain. doesn't. work.
Tonight, for example, we got home from the kids' Track Meet at 10:00,
and I realized that I had only eaten 655 calories all day.
And . . . I wasn't hungry.
I did, however, drink a Protein Shake in order to try to keep my
metabolism moving . . . which put me at 815 calories for the day.
Keep those ideas coming.
I am going to cut back on the fruit this week,
(one of your suggestions)
as my friend, Sarah, and I are doing another 8 Day Detox,
to try to jump start our metabolisms again,
as we have both been stuck at a plateau.
Thanks for all of your encouragement.
I am ready to press on and lose the next 20 pounds.
How are you all doing on your own Takin' Care of Mama journeys?
I'm much like you. I rarely get hungry. In fact I don't like most food (because I am allergic to so many types of food that they make me sick). I have to force myself to eat. You wouldn't know that by looking at me. Most diets I went on to lose weight usually consisted of me having to eat a LOT... and often. It is hard. I empathize with you. I did find though, when I got my calorie intake to around 1800 I actually lost weight - but I felt sick a lot of the time. I think the best part of "dieting" for me involved the exercise. I wish that is all it took to lose weight!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see what your new steps bring about! You can do it!
Keep it up Laurel! I say that to encourage me too! The kids and I started a daily run/walk at about 12:30. We are all enjoying the break in the day.
ReplyDeleteTry increasing your Magnesium intake. Mg deficiency can lead to loss of appetite, slow "transit" and a whole host of other problems. Just a quick thought on the run. Prayers still headed your way!
ReplyDeleteI'm the one that left the "eat when you are hungry" comment on your last post. I think if you TRULY allowed your body to get to the hungry stage, you would feel it. Some people don't get hungry 3 times per day. We eat because the clock says we need to eat--breakfast when we get up, lunch around noon, dinner around 6 p.m. But does your body want you to eat then? Only you can tell that. Try drinking at least 20 ounces of water when you get up and moving in the morning. Keep drinking the water throughout the day and let yourself get hungry. When you're hungry, then eat.
ReplyDeleteNow, I'm not always good about following this model, but when I do, my body is happiest. For me, when I'm listening to my body, I typically eat 2 meals on one day and then only one meal the next day. Why? Probably because I have enough stored away and that's all I need. I'm not saying "Oh, today is the day you eat only once." If I'm hungry on that 2nd day and need/want to eat more than once, then I do so. Look at truly thin people and how they eat--do they count calories? Do they eat 4-6 times per day? Do they avoid certain foods or just try for an overall healthy/sensible eating routine? Now I'm not talking about people that WORK or STRUGGLE to maintain being thin. I'm talking about those people that are thin, and don't have to do anything to maintain being thin.
Lastly, I think the stress that you have mentioned on here (not having a full-time income, issues with your big kids, having Little Miss at the care facility, etc.) all play a part in your lack of weight loss too. I know that as I get older, I see my stress showing up in different "forms," ways I have never experienced before--extreme allergies in spite of living within 15 miles of where I've lived my entire life: eczema, weight issues, etc.
