Summer's Last Hurrah

Last week, the kids and I set out on our last Summer Adventure.

We hitched up the trailer and headed to Eastern Washington.

We camped at Lincoln Rock State Park from Tuesday - Saturday.

The sun was HOT!

The lake was COLD.

We all agreed that Lincoln Rock is the most BEAUTIFUL
State Park we have ever visited.

We didn't do much actual "swimming" due to the very cold lake,
but we sure enjoyed Floating & Boating.

We enjoyed RELAXING in the beautiful sunshine.

Mama did a lot of Reading.

(This was the first book I read.  The second book was Kisses from Katie.)

Hosanna did a lot of Reading, too.

(Sister-in-law Kayla passed down a stack of good books recently.)

We visited our favorite Bavarian Village . . .

. . . and a fun little Farm nearby.

We even got to meet up with a blog friend and her kids,
who happen to sell their garden produce at this cute farm.

They came out to the campground to meet us one afternoon.  Such fun!

We built a Campfire . . . Roasted Marshmallows . . . and ate S'Mores.
(Mama stuck to her diet, though, and stayed away from the S'mores.  Sad Mama.)

We did Devotions by flashlight, and the dying embers of the campfire.

We cooked our meals on our favorite piece of Camping Equipment:

the Coleman Road Trip Grill / Griddle.

Hamburgers and Hot Dogs for Dinner

Pancakes and French Toast for Breakfast

The kids played Soccer after breakfast, while waiting to head down to the lake.

We took a new route home, and the kids enjoyed visiting a fun little

Cowboy Town.

We drove over a BEAUTIFUL mountain pass
that the children have never been on before.

(Hosanna was seriously hanging out of the window to take pictures.)

This picture doesn't come close to showing how absolutely beautiful it was . . .

but the SUN is still shining on the mountain,

while the MOON is just hanging out waiting for it to get dark enough to shine.

We all had a WONDERFUL week,
but so wish that Papa could have joined us.
He has been doing his own Painting Jobs
in addition to working for 2 other Painting Contractors.

We are so THANKFUL for all of the work
that the Lord has provided for Papa this summer,
and are hoping to have some nice weather still in September,
so that he can join us for some weekend camping trips, too.

  1. It does look like a beautiful place to camp and have some family fun. I'm glad that you were able to get some enjoyable family time. With our kids in near-constant crisis, a day when everyone is at least okay is a wonderful thing. Our kids always seem to do better out in the forest, away from the city.
