The kids and I had a GREAT time,
camping at Alder Lake State Park Thursday - Saturday.
This is the only picture I have of the lake . . .
because Hosanna and I spent a lot of time
IN the lake with the younger kids.
(It was about 95 degrees Thursday and Friday.)
Enjoying a late dinner of BBQ'd Burgers and Potato Salad,
after a long drive to the campground,
and a couple of hours of Swimming.
(The drive which should have taken 3 1/4 hours took 5 hours instead.
It's always hard to plan travel time through the Seattle area.)
Waiting for Hosanna to build a fire,
so that everyone could Roast Marshmallows
and make S'Mores. Yummm ...
We had an awesome campsite surrounded by lots of trees.
We went camping without Ben or Papa for the first time
(we've done lots of camping without Papa, but always with Ben)
so Hosanna and I learned to do a LOT of things that Ben usually did.
Hosanna and I had NEVER . . .
. . . hitched up the trailer.
. . . set up the trailer by ourselves.
. . . used the gas grill.
But, she jumped right in to all of the new responsibility,
and the two of us made a GREAT team!
One kind of crazy thing that happened this week . . .
We went camping without Papa,
because he has been working 12-14 hours per day,
6 days per week, and is rarely home.
So, we wouldn't really see him if we stayed home.
But . . . he got off work at 4:00 on Thursday and 5:00 on Friday
(because it was TOO HOT to paint in the sun).
Then, he only worked a few hours on Saturday.
However . . . he did not stay home, missing us. Oh. My. No.
The men of our New Church have discovered Papa,
and pulled him right into their friendships.
Thursday night . . . Papa had a Coffee Date with a New Friend.
Friday night . . . Papa was invited to a Men's Game Night (playing Hearts).
Saturday night . . . Papa had Dinner at a New Friend's house.
(These same New Friends had our family over for dinner on Wednesday.)
Sunday night . . . (even though we are home) Papa is at a Men's Bible Study.
We are THANKING GOD for NEW FRIENDS to "Do Life With"!!!
Your trip sounds refreshing for you and the kiddos. Good for you and Hosanna too, learning how to do so much this weekend!! That was probably scary but invigorating when you accomplished it as well!! Glad your husband is making new Godly friends too. That is such a blessing and hard to come by.
ReplyDeleteLooks beautiful and sounds like tons of fun! Alder Lake reminds me of youth group days at the lake... I haven't been there since high school.
ReplyDeleteSoooo thankful for your new church and the many friendships your family is building there. Glad the men took advantage of Jim being on his own! :)
