I Seriously Did A Double Take

When I uploaded my weekend pictures onto my computer tonight,
I seriously had to do a double take.

Is that me?

Maybe it was taken at a weird angle.

That can't be me . . . though it reminds me of the me from many years ago.

No.  This is what I look like.
(taken in March)

I quickly looked at more pictures . . .

. . . looking for the fat  fluffy  puffy  plump face
and double chin that I know is "me".
(taken in April)

(taken in June)

But . . . in pictures from this weekend, I keep finding this face . . .
(next to the adorable little guy with the chubby cheeks)

. . . not this one.
(taken the end of June)

. . . or this one.
(taken in July)

Really?

Is that me?

Now . . .

please go back and look at all of the adorable pictures of Noah . . .

that is why these pictures were taken.  (smile)

When we walked into Gregg & Kayla's on Saturday afternoon,
Kayla immediately mentioned that she noticed my weight loss,
and specifically mentioned "in the face".

She knows I'm trying to lose weight.

I thought she was "being nice",
but hoped that maybe there was a little difference.

I didn't realize that we haven't seen them in 6 weeks,
and I guess I have lost a bit of weight in that time.

Usually (as in when the earlier pictures were taken) I do my hair,
put on my makeup, and feel okay about how I look . . .
until I upload the pictures.  In each of the pictures from the last 6 months,
when I put them on the computer, I thought, "Ugh.  Do I really look that bad?"

So, I always feel like pictures make me look a lot more overweight
than I feel "in real life".  Therefore, you can imagine my SHOCK
to upload pics and think they make me look skinnier than in real life
(especially since they were taken after a long, hot day at the fair,
when I had not just put on makeup or done my hair).

Yes.

I definitely did a double take tonight.

Woo Hoo!

I've got a lot left to lose, but these new pictures sure are a motivator.

  1. Wow, that's amazing! you look sooooo young! I was confused to what you were referring to, when I looked at the pictures, I thought you were showing an old picture of you holding up Gregg as a baby! (NOT KIDDING!) I didn't know that it was taken recently with Noah...

and your hands are soooo smooth! I am only 38 but my hands are VERY wrinkly! haha (inheritance from my mother and grandmother, but no worries, I accept YHWH's design :)

you look so pretty, MamaD :) the dieting thing is working, definitely! :)

  2. Thank you, Sweet Susan! Your comment truly BLESSED me. :)

Gotta tell you my secret to smooth hands (at 50 years old). I, too, am well aware that most of my friends' hands are not quite so smooth.

I've always had very dry elbows . . . as in crackly dry. So, every night for many, many years I have rubbed Almond Oil into my dry elbows. After rubbing it into my elbows, I naturally rub the rest onto my hands. It wasn't until a few years ago that I realized what a gift I had been giving my hands every.single.night.for.many.years. Seriously. Now, I still rub Almond Oil onto my elbows every night . . . but then I rub even more onto my hands.

In my pictures from this weekend . . . I did see a glimpse of the much younger me, and it made me very excited to continue this weight loss journey.

Thanks for your always positive and encouraging comments. I want to come visit my daughter in Australia, and meet you, too.

    Mama D.

    1. Thanks for joining me on this new Weight Loss Journey. I love being your cheerleader, too. :)

The thing that I just cannot quite fathom . . . when I look at these pictures it just doesn't make sense that I still have 100 pounds to lose. :( I guess I'm losing it in the face first, and then we'll get to the pudgy tummy and the hips.

    1. Thanks, Cass.

      Your encouragement means a LOT!

August camping trips boosted the tan factor, and I'm hoping to keep it until our Sunshine & Beaches vacation next month.

Your pregnancy skin didn't tan? Or is it the Minnesota sun?
