Middle of the night phone calls are usually
not. too. fun.
I crawled into bed at 1:00 am,
only to be awoken by the phone at 2:00 am.
I missed the call,
but pulled myself out of bed,
and headed down the hall to find my cell phone.
"Missed Call" from Australia.
I knew it couldn't be good.
Lindsey's fever is higher than it's ever been;
I can hear the fear in her voice.
Fear of the unknown.
Fear of the fever.
Fear of the medical costs.
She has been sick for over a week;
she's been to the doctor 3 times;
she's gone for 2 sets of blood tests.
She may have Malaria.
She may have Dengue Fever.
The fever comes on every evening,
accompanied by chills, body aches, and headaches.
She wakes up every morning and goes to work,
trying to keep an income coming in to pay for the doctor visits.
Sometimes she makes it through the day.
Sometimes she has to leave early to go home to bed.
Today, the fever came on earlier than usual;
and is burning hotter than usual.
I prayed for her tonight.
(with tears running down my cheeks)
I looked up the symptoms of each disease on the internet.
I looked up celsius temperatures,
so she would know when to head to the E.R.
I told her that fevers can bring their own consequences,
in addition to what the initial disease can bring.
I wish I could be with her.
I wish I could take care of her.
I wish I could protect her from the unknown.
I wish I could buy her a plane ticket home.
Yet . . .
I know that the Lord is with her.
I know that He is taking care of her.
I know that He can protect her.
I continue to put my trust in Him,
and know that He is with her.
Please continue to lift Lindsey up to the Lord . . .
. . . for complete physical healing.
. . . for wisdom for the doctors.
. . . for peace in her heart.
Don't miss my last post, "God is Good" . . .
written right before I headed to bed at 1:00 am. (smile)
will continue to pray for Lindsey and the doctors...there are definitely some strange diseases/viruses in this world...
