  2. With the financial problems you've recently detailed, would it not be better to stay home and save money? Since your husband is not yet steadily employed and you're hoping to get Little Miss into attachment therapy??

  3. Thanks so much for your concern. I was fully aware that this post would bring judgement in the comments section.

I find it interesting that you've never commented before . . . don't allow access to your profile . . . and only comment now to share your judgment of our decisions (of which you know no details). I am also aware that there are several people who create "new" profiles in order to write their ongoing judgement and condemnation of most every decision that we make. Now . . . I must wonder if you are one of those people, or if you really are a new reader who's name is "Freddie".

Regardless, I will share with you how we are financing so many fun events and activities:

    1. We have free tickets to go to the fair, and visiting Gregg & Kayla is important enough to budget for the gas every 4-6 weeks. (We always pack our own food to take to the fair.)

    2. My blog friend has a free beach house for all of us to stay in (and even offered to pay for our gas).

    3. The father/son camping trip is a couple of miles away, on private property, so there isn't any cost. (The food is even provided.)

    4. The scrapbooking weekend out-of-town was paid for a month ago, and just happens to have had all of these other activities fall in place around it. The gas might cost me $15.

    5. The scrapbooking weekend at my church may cost $10-20.

    6. The week away to celebrate our 30th Anniversary is "paid" for with airline tickets that were purchased a year ago (for a trip we couldn't take). So, we had to "use them or lose them". They were non-refundable tickets, so we couldn't get the money back.

    7. Let's see. That leaves the "extravagant" 24 hour trip with Hosanna to celebrate her 16th birthday. I guess I could tell her that we can't afford to celebrate her birthday. But, we are choosing to spend some of Papa's hard earned money so that Hosanna and I can spend 24 hours together.

While we are definitely putting money aside for "a rainy day" (or months of unemployment), we also believe that the Lord has provided an abundance of work for Jim the past couple of months in order to provide blessings for our family (over and above the food and shelter that are essential provisions of His).

After working 70-80 hours/week for the past 6 weeks, don't you think Papa deserves to take a weekend off to visit his grandson and go to the fair with his family? I do. If that is how he wants to spend a small portion of the money that he has earned, he has every right to spend a little on "playing" and relaxation.

Did you miss the fact that Little Miss is getting treatment? She is living at a Residential Care Facility in order to receive the treatment that she needs for her R.A.D..

    Thanks again for your concern.

  4. Enjoy! Hoping you are able to be refreshed and rejuvenated. May God bless your recreation time (someone recently commented that that word is appropriate, as God helps us to "re-create" our selves in a healthier way with good fun!) Blessings!

  6. I stumbled upon your blog and read several (many, actually) posts. There is so much joy here! I just wanted to say it is really lovely to find places where that deep-seated joy that comes from the Lord is so apparent. :) I hope you have an amazing time on your anniversary trip (I think that's right). Just wanted to say hello after reading your happy posts.
I hope your daughter (Lindsey) is able to get the help she needs!! May God protect and heal her quickly!
