I've been doing a lot of Christmas Baking lately,
and have really been enjoying some new recipes
I've found on some of my Favorite Cooking Blogs.
are from Your Home Based Mom.
They were made even more tasty because I used cooked pumpkin
that we grew in our little backyard garden.
I had to cut small pieces on this batch, because
Hosanna was having 20+ Youth Group Friends
over after they went Christmas Caroling.
Do any of you ever make Mini Muffins?
I bought these new pans because I found a couple
of recipes that I just had to try. (smile)
They are actually "Donut" recipes . . .
that make "Donut Holes" . . .
when baked in Mini Muffin Pans.
These are Pumpkin Donut Holes rolled in Cinnamon Sugar,
from Two Peas & Their Pod (a blog I recently found).
These are Egg Nog Donut Holes with Egg Nog Glaze.
These were a big hit with my Egg-Nog-Loving-Family.
Sorry. I didn't get any pics after they were baked and glazed.
Sorry. I didn't get any pics after they were baked and glazed.
It's about time for me to make my 3rd Batch of
They are so yummy that Jim keeps eating them, too.
Of course, I am enjoying a daily Hot Peppermint Mocha,
when I eat my mid-morning Pumpkin Muffin Snack.
One other new recipe . . .
that was a BIG HIT at our Church Christmas Party,
after we went Christmas Caroling at the Old Folks' Homes,
from my Sweet Bloggy Friend, Sasha,
over at Lemonade Makin' Mama.
I didn't get any pictures of these,
but Sasha has some on her blog.
They were AMAZING!
(I did take one little bite.)
What are YOUR family's Favorite Christmas Goodies?
Looks like I need to come over and try some of those out with you!
ReplyDeleteAs for baking--not doing any!
You are much better at avoiding temptation than I am! So it is just better not to have it around and it seems as if everywhere we go there is more and more snacks for the kids, so they are not feeling left out.
Merry Christmas my friend
I am being careful about what I bake, so as to avoid as much temptation as possible. :)
ReplyDeleteMy family loves Egg Nog, but not me. So, the Egg Nog donuts are a treat for them, that I have no problem avoiding.
I'm not much of a donut person, so even the Pumpkin Donut Holes don't make me crave (or cave in).
I keep my Low Cal Pumpkin Muffins stocked so that I can eat one per day to fill my "need" for something yummy.
But ... I did have to say, "Please don't!" when Jim and Hosanna were talking about making White Chocolate Peppermint Bark. Oh. My. No. I did NOT want any of that in my house. I would have sniffed it out even if they'd tried to hide it. :) See, I do have my downfalls.
When I bake my apple pies and pumpkin pies, I am going to have to be creative with a Mama alternative. I can bake a low cal Pumpkin Pie without a crust, but haven't yet found an Apple Pie substitute. I LOVE pie, and so does the rest of my family. That is something that I cannot just kick out of the house.
Only 3 days until Christmas and I am still totally sticking to the diet. Not losing weight, but holding steady. Now . . . we will have company the next 3 days, so we'll have to see how that goes.
Hope your Christmas is BLESSED!
Laurel :)
Maybe an apple crisp for mama with oatmeal and cinnamon and just a smidge of sweetness? (As an alternative to pie)
