Christmas Stockings

Mama laid out the stockings
after everyone went to bed on Christmas Eve.

Papa's was at the end of the table,
and the stockings went around counterclockwise by age;
but when everyone woke up,
no one knew which stocking belonged to who,
until Mama told them where to sit for Breakfast.

Everyone got candy, and goodies, and candy,
and lotion or chapstick, and candy,
and games, and toys, and more candy.

Our Christmas Stockings are really our once-per-year
Candy Treat.  We rarely buy candy any other time.

I think Noah was sad that his stocking only had a couple of toys . . .

and no chocolate.

Does everyone at your house get a stocking for Christmas?

  1. yes! we are huge stocking lovers!!! Our kids have said that they think they might actually like getting their stockings more than the gifts! And mama and papa give stocking gifts to each other in our family too. We fill them with candy, little "trinket" gifts...lip gloss, chapstick, flashlights, gadgets, hairbrushes, puzzles, etc. We also like to put something a little "bigger" in stockings so we give gift cards in them now too. Different cards, depending on each persons interests.
    Love stockings!!! :)

  2. We have a stocking holder shelf and a letters (L.O.V.E) that hold the 4 of our stockings. When Cor was home it said "P.E.A.C.E." and then we replaced it after we disrupted.

Our stockings have candy, gift cards, jewlry, 'special' chapsticks that Santa/Mom doesn't normally buy (Baby Lips...it is $$), and other little trinkets that normally we don't get.

We are in the process of switching to gluten free. So the child (my youngest who is 10) who needs to be GF got the type of candy that is GF. CHristmas morning he told his sister "You can have all this candy if I don't eat it by tmw...bc it won't be GF only the mint choc". We laughed and told him "it is yours...once school is back in session we wil work to be GF but this is special and you can have it".

We don't monitor our children's candy intake with their stockings. They can eat it as fast or slow as they want. When it is gone. It is gone. Years past it would be gone w/in the day. Now, as they get older (13 and 10) it last for about a week. Which makes me proud they monitor themselves.

This year the stockings had "Xbox point gift card, chapstick, candy, and slinky for B" and for A she got 'jewlry from that Santa/Mom found buy 1 get 2 free special...lots of rings and bracelets, manicure kit for her purse, candy, and some other little trinkets. ALmost always our stockings have things that w find on clearance and we try to keep it that way.

    1. Good to hear from you. :)

My two youngest got slinkys this year, too.

We don't monitor the stocking candy, either, and it disappears pretty quickly. :)
