Ready. Set. Go.

I am "off and running" towards my
2013 Diet Goals.

I am EXCITED for what this year will mean for me.

We had out-of-town family in town for Christmas,
so I purposely just set my diet "on the shelf" for 4 days.

I enjoyed some Mashed Potatoes & Gravy,
and LOTS of Pumpkin Pie & Whipped Cream.
Oh My!

I gained 4 pounds in 4 days.

Then . . .

I lost 5 pounds in 5 days.

So, I am READY to start the downward trend again.

After an Anniversary Week in Puerto Rico in October . . .

and 5 days at Family Camp in Oregon in November . . .

and Christmas Company for 4 days in December . . .

I am REALLY GLAD to NOT have any

Big Holidays or Vacations

planned for awhile.

I am READY to get back on track . . .

and hit some Major Diet Milestones.

I am nearing a weight I have not seen for 14 years,
since we were in a serious car accident
and I couldn't exercise nor even
walk down the street for many months

So EXCITING!

Have any of you decided to start a

Takin' Care of Mama Journey

in 2013?

I'd love to give you some support and encouragement.

  1. Friend, as I'm reading through my Bible in 90 days, I'm committing to walk the treadmill during that reading time since I'm reading on my Kindle! 2 days down, and it feels so good! I need all the energy I can muster to keep up with the younguns, and the new Treasure who will be home in a few months!

    1. I don't have a Kindle, but maybe if I find a large print Bible it would be easier for me to read while walking on my treadmill. Hmmm . . . I really need to do both.

      Thanks for the encouragement.

  2. I lost 60 lbs last year and have another 15 to go - wish I could read on the treadmill - but it makes me motion sick. I haven't been this weight since college (20+ years ago) and I love all the extra energy being fit gives me!

    1. Always good to hear from you, Bonnie. Please do tell what you've been doing for your weight loss. Congrats on being so close to your goal. I have about 25 pounds to go until I get to the weight I was 20 years ago. Pretty exciting, though.

Hope your New Year is BLESSED!

    2. I made a lot of changes in my eating - no sugar little carbs, lots of veggies and water and lots of exercise. The biggest surprise to me was that all of those changes helped me manage my stress better- who knew that was even possible.

  3. YES! Finally after feeling like every time I started something hugely emotional would come up and well.....it was over. We are not dieting per sey....just actually exercising (going on walks) and actually using portion sizes ;). Really just a habit change, and we are both (hubby and I) are using My fitness pal on FB. It is nice because you can enter information pretty basic, enter exercise you do, and all food- seriously they have everything from restaurants to every name brand. Just to keep us accountable.

So excited for you!!! I remember a few years ago and I stayed on that course until......the last yearish.....I got back to my wedding day weight! It was awesome and I put on my dress again! :) LOVED IT!

  4. I am not focusing on any numbers (I just blogged about not making any resolutions...it's a God conviction for me based on some issues I have had). I am, however, looking forward to running my first half marathon, which is something I've wanted to do. It also helps me stay on a path of having some alone time (I have to find that time VERY early in the morning when it's still dark, but that's ok), which refreshes me mentally. :) Keep up the great work! XO

  5. I'm planning on doing my best to "take care of Mama" once I deliver my 2nd child in just a few short weeks. I've done really well and have only gained about 10lbs with this pregnancy. With my first pregnancy (my son is almost 17 months old) I actually weighed 35lbs less the day after I delivered my son than I did before I got pregnant. I did pretty good about not gaining much of it back after I had my son and even now at 38 weeks pregnant I'm still 20lbs less than I was before I got pregnant the first time 26 months ago. I know that since I want to breastfeed, I can't do any drastic "dieting" but I can continue to eat healthy and make sure that I stay active. Your blog has been a big encouragement to me to keep at it.
