The Wizard of Oz

Our local high school drama program has been working on
The Wizard of Oz
for the past 4 months.

(They have always graciously included our homeschooled children.)

Their production this week has been WONDERFUL.

Doesn't Hosanna (middle) make a cute Munchkin?

Hosanna (left) is also enjoying the role of one of the Crows.

This is a good friend of ours.

Doesn't he make the cutest Lion?

Hosanna is a Poppy, too . . .

. . . and one of the Women of Oz.

Glinda the Good Witch
is one of Hosanna's dear friends.

Isn't she just beautiful?

And . . . Toto did an AMAZING job.  Seriously.
(He belongs to another of Hosanna's dearest friends.)

Hosanna also played the part of Nico the Flying Monkey.

Sadly, those scenes are too dark for "No Flash" Photography.

Mama is playing the part of "In Charge of Concession Sales",
a part I was just asked to do on Wednesday.  (smile)

I LOVE it, because that means I have a reason to go to almost every show.

(Sadly, I have an out-of-town Scrapbooking Weekend next week,
so I will have to miss the last two show.  It was planned and
paid for long before I knew the dates of the musical.)

Thursday Night . . .

I baked goodies for Back Stage for the Cast,
and we all went to the "Friends & Family" Dress Rehearsal.
I helped serve cake during the intermission.

Friday Night . . .

I took Sarah & Josiah with me.
I worked the Concession Table,
while Sarah & Josiah helped Usher.

(Papa & Elijah had a date on Friday Night,
to make his Awana Grand Prix Race Car.)

Tonight (Saturday) . . .

Ben and good friend Alex went with me to help with the Concession Table.

(Papa and the Young Ones stayed home for Movie Night.)

Hosanna invited the whole cast over for a party after the show tonight.

(So . . . Mama did a lot of baking this afternoon.)

We probably had 25-30 kids here from 10:45 pm - after Midnight.
The last group of girls just left, at 1:30 am.

Tomorrow . . .

we will all go to the Matinee Show after church.

Papa and the kids and I will help usher before the show,
and we will all sell concessions during intermission.

Yes.

It has been a BUSY, BUSY Week . . .

but I LOVE to be involved in the High School Musicals.

I have so many FUN memories of the years that
Gregg, Cassie, Jeremiah, Carissa, and Lindsey were
in the shows at the high school.

(I spent many, many nights doing hair and makeup back stage.)

Bye, Bye Birdie
(Gregg)

Les Miserable
(Cassie & Jeremiah)

Seussical
(Jeremiah, Carissa, Lindsey)

Jeremiah and Josh also did some Community Theater,
so our family has been performing in shows for many, many years.

Sarah is already looking forward to being able to be in
next year's high school musical.

I am so proud of Hosanna and all of the hard work
she and her friends have done,
to put on such an excellent production.

  1. These are such fun years! Being able to be around all of that teen-age energy is just wonderful! I read your post today with relish..and thought back to the years when I was raising my kiddos. They were wonderful years...and when they were over, I missed them. Thankfully, the grandies are busy teen-agers now, but its not the same as when the house was full of teen-agers coming and going with all of the activities that go with it.

    I am enjoying your pleasure!
